The concept of a flying club is simple: You pay monthly membership dues for the right to fly aircraft the club owns at a price much lower than normal rental fees. All the terms are spelled out in the flying club membership agreement and each one is a little different.
Flying clubs come in all shapes and sizes. They range from clubs with just a few members sharing a single plane (similar to a partnership) to regional clubs with hundreds of members and as many as 50 aircraft. Some clubs are developed by aircraft dealers for their current and former students. Other clubs are independent, nonprofit organizations with a waiting list for memberships.
