For sport pilots who like the style and ground visibility of high-wing aircraft, the Kitfox Sport is very popular. Yet it isn’t slow as older aircraft are. With an average useful load of 532 lbs. it can carry two passengers, lots of fuel (20+ gallons), and some luggage, too. Cruise and stall speeds meet LSA requirements.
Takeoff and landing rolls are relatively short at 275 ft. each, meaning this is a plane designed for short-takeoff and landing (STOL) flying. It gets off the ground quickly. That’s great if you’re flying out of a short field. However, it also means taxiing too fast can make you airborne before you realize it. The rate of climb is very good, too: 1,300 fpm.
The Kitfox Sport actually is the latest version in the Kitfox series. The kit version is called the Series 7 and the Sport version has most of the same features, fully assembled.
