LSAs have seating for two, a pilot and a passenger, making them friendlier than pilot-only ultralights. You can take a friend up with you—or you can take lots of luggage or even extra fuel.

Like other small general-aviation aircraft, LSAs come in two seating configurations: side by side and tandem (one behind the other). Both are popular for different reasons. Most aircraft with tandem seating are high wing as well, offering both the pilot and passenger clear visibility out of either side of the aircraft. Side-by-side seating is found in both high- and low-wing aircraft.
