Another restriction of the sport-pilot certificate is that you are permitted to fly only aircraft of the make and model of whatever you took your test in. That is, if you get your certificate in a Kitfox sport plane then that’s the only plane you’re allowed to fly. If you want to fly a Zodiac XL sport plane you must receive training and an instructor endorsement to be able to fly the Zodiac.
Typically an endorsement requires that a sport-pilot instructor (SPI) give you a lesson or two in the plane you want to fly. If you’re relatively proficient you might be able to get your endorsement in a single flight.
